Yorkshire Wolds Railway
Fimber, YO25 3HG.
I called in on the YWR on 18th October
2015 and was pleased to find that they were offering cab rides in the
diesel.
A view of the controls in the nice warm
cab.
The line was quite short in 2015! In
2024 it extends to the end of the next field.
Here`s the platform at Fimber Halt on
13th October 2024.
Passengers travel in the superbly
restored BR brake van.
It was nice and cosy in the van with its
stove - but I chose to ride on the outside!
The line is now one quarter of a mile
and the ride included reversing into the siding, which is at present
controlled by the ground frame.
Returning to the station platform where
there was a demonstration of static engines on this date.
The staff were happy to escort
photographers lineside to the signalbox rescued from a farmers field in
S. Yorkshire.
The present limit of the line. It is
hoped to eventually reach Wetwang which is near the trees in far left
distance.
The diesel returning to the station.
The box bears two different nameboards,
having been orginally located at Sprotborough.
Ready for when they reach Wetwang is
this lamp in their museum.
