West Lancashire Light Railway
3rd May 2026
All the staff at the WLLR are very
friendly and approachable and offered me a tour of the shed - it would
be rude to turn it down!
Ex Dinorwic Quarry Bagnall 0-4-0 "Sybil"
stands outside the shed as the train to Delph passes on the main line.
A fine pit, that many railways would be
envious of, is nearing completion.
A Lister type R and a Greenwood &
Batley battery electric locomotive (ex RAF Fauld) seen here.
Awaiting overhaul is 0-6-0 Orenstein
& Koppel "Joffre".
Here are the frames and cab of 0-4-0
Hunslet "Irish Mail".
The boiler of "Irish Mail" with its new
barrel nearing completion.
A Simplex diesel loco.
"Montalban" on the run round loop, which
is the other side of one of the sheds from the platform road.
Now running back to its train on the
platform road.
The WLLR is definitely well worth a
visit - it`s only taken me 30 odd years to get there!
