Opening of track extension 15th May 2022
The outer loop extension towards
Brigsley Road was officially opened on Sunday 15th May 2022 by Strictly
Come Dancing winner Joanne Clifton,
(centre first carriage), who was born in
Waltham and recalled how she enjoyed riding the trains as a child with
her parents.
The official opening train on the new
extension hauled by a 7.25in Class 66.
Also in action that day was 7.25in
"Henrietta". This locomotive had operated at the Cleethorpes Wonderland
railway in 1950s before moving to Cumbria.
"Henrietta" stops for a signal check
where the new line joins the old line before the tunnel.
Same place as Britannia Class 70014
"Iron Duke" is also checked by the signals.
"Henrietta" about to emerge from the
tunnel on way back to the station.
