Teifi Valley Railway

Henllan Station, West Wales, SA44 5TD

6th May 2019

We arrived at the railway before the first train so in need of lunch we headed to the on site cafe. Two very helpful ladies provided excellent
cheese toasties with buttered Welsh cakes to follow. Highly recommended!

"John Henry" an 0-4-0 Ruston built 1959.

The diesel hauled train leaving Henllan station...

... and travels through delightful forest scenery for approx 3/4 mile.

The train is propelled on the return with a green flag being displayed by the guard.

The Henllan site has many attractions for the young, and old, visitors including this miniature train down Pixie Glade to Pixie Land.
There`s also a brilliant cafe, indoor and outdoor play areas.

This 2ft gauge line has suffered its share of problems in the past with services being discontinued and track lifted. It was nice
to see it running once more and to have a guided tour of their shed. Here`s Hunslet 606 "Alan George" an ex Penrhyn 0-4-0 awaiting overhaul.

I would like to thank the staff at the Teifi Valley Railway for their very warm welcome,
especially the ladies in the cafe and the train driver for the tour of the shed.
This railway really deserves to succeed!
