Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
22nd June 2010

An early morning train  from New Romney to Dungeness, hauled by diesel loco " Captain Howie", seen at "The Pilot"
level crossing, heading out across the wide expanse of shingle beach.

The following train was in charge of No.2 "Northern Chief" seen about to enter Dungeness station.

"Northern Chief" stands at Dungeness station.

I`ve always been intrigued by the balloon loop used by the RHDR at Dungeness - so a trek over the shingle led
me to the points where the train regains the single line to New Romney.

No.8 "Hurricane" seen the following day at New Romney about to depart for Hythe.

"Hurricane" seen from the train about to pass under the main road to Hythe at The Warren.

No.8 on arrival at Hythe station being admired from a safe distance!

Loco runs round train and then onto turntable in Hythe yard.

An impressive departure from Hythe with cylinder drain cocks open...

... and "Hurricane" begins the 13.5 mile journey to Dungeness.
