Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
September 2024
"Doctor Syn" reversing away from the
coaling area at New Romney on 6th September 2024
"Green Goddess" seen taking on water at
New Romney on the same day. "Doctor Syn" is seen in background.
"Green Goddess" being polished by its
driver at Dungeness having encountered heavy rain on the journey from
New Romney.
"Winston Churchill" leaving Dungeness
station on 1st September 2024.
A going away shot as the train
negotiates the balloon loop on Dungeness.
Next train to arrive at Dungeness seen
at the balloon loop point with "Northern Chief" in charge...
...and making a fine sight as it passes
at 5mph.
About 20 minutes later "Northern Chief"
passes again...
...and increases speed on its way to New
Romney.
Final day of our holiday finds us at the
RHDR again, this time at Hythe where "Northern Chief" is almost ready to
depart. 6/9/24.
Later a shot from the train as we leave
Dungeness.
We alight at New Romney and I enquire
about a peek inside the new loco shed.
Very impressive interior with more room
than the old shed.
No 1 "Green Goddess".
No 3 "Southern Maid".
No. 4 "The Bug".
No. 11 "Black Prince"
No. 10 "Dr Syn".
No. 9 "Winston Churchill" enters New
Romney station from Dungeness.
End of the day back at Hythe as
"Northern Chief" uncouples from train and reverses back to take water.
Final glimpse of the RH&DR this
holiday was "J.B.Snell" on the final train of the day to Hythe at
Burmarsh Road Crossing
as we return to our cottage for the
week in Burmarsh to pack our suitcases. Must return soon!
