Due to engineering work in the Immingham area there were freight
diversions over the Grimsby to Immingham Light Railway
over the weekend of 9th/10th February
2008.
Here, and above, 66066 brings a train of coal empties from Marsh
Junction (signalbox in background) past Great Coates Sidings.
It passes under Cleveland Bridge and can be seen turning sharply
eastwards under the A180 trunk road.
Further down Gilbey Road the same train is now travelling westwards
towards Immingham
and is seen at Pyewipe Road level crossing in Grimsby.
Later 66182 is seen on the very tight curves from Great Coates
sidings round to Pyewipe Road box,
with empty H.T.A. coal train from Scunthorpe steelworks to Immingham.
666182 turns the corner towards Pyewipe road - Huntsman Tioxides
(previously BTP) chimney is on right of picture.
66605 waits at Pyewipe Roads home signal for previous train to clear
the long section from here to Immingham East.
Now on move again and the driver stops to collect the single line
token for the Light Railway.
The signalman climbs back into his cabin as 66605 restarts the very
long oil empties train, (6E82 Rectory Jcn - Lindsey Oil Refinery).
Over the crossing and on to a 7 mile (approx) single line to
Immingham.
Coming towards Grimsby from Immingham is a train of 5 locos 60082,
66186, 60023, 60042 and 60089 seen at Woad Lane Great Coates.
The 5 locos pass over the half barrier crossing and head past scrap
yards towards Pyewipe Road.
In late afternoon low sunshine 60041 brings another train of oil
empties to Pyewipe Roads home signal.
The train passes the signal under hand signals and approaches the
signalbox.
