The Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway
official reopening day 3rd May 2009 - cont..

With the Mayoral party and guests on board the first train of a new era for the LCLR departs from "Lakeview" station
slightly after its advertised time due to photo calls.

The inaugural train, returning from South Loop, rounds no 2 curve to enter Airfield Straight.

A train later in the day entering "Lakeview" station.

The LCLR features a gently meandering ride with vistas from Skegness Airfield to the
Lincolnshire Wolds across some of the countys best agricultural land.

The second man changes the point at South loop as the loco runs around
the restored ex Ashover Light Railway coach.

The rear lamp is attached to the train ready to return to "Lakeview".

A scene at South Loop later in the day as driver Smith climbs back onto the loco.

A quintessential scene of a leisurely ride by narrow gauge train  through the English countryside.

Heading back along Drainside Straight towards Airfield Straight and "Lakeview" station.

The first day of opening was a complete success, thanks to everyone who helped to bring this little railway back to life after 24 years,
especially the management of the Water Leisure Park at Skegness. This scene of full trains was repeated through the day.

The LCLR has been awarded the HRA Small Groups Award for 2009, jointly with the LWR,
for both railways efforts in opening new services in Lincolnshire. The engraved coach panel trophy
seen below is currently with the LWR until August 2010 when it will be at the LCLR in Skegness.
