Hastings Miniature Railway
14th July 2013

The Hastings Miniature Railway is a 10.25in gauge line running from Rock-a Nore station, seen here, along the seafront to
Marine Parade station. On the turntable is "Princess Swee' Pea" a steam outline diesel with a difference and about to leave
with a train is another steam outline diesel "Sir Duke"

On closer examination smoke can clearly be seen coming out "Princess Swee' Peas" chimney - it has actually been built with a
firebox for a coal fire but is propelled by the tender mounted diesel engine!

En route to Marine Parade station behind "Sir Duke".

"Sir Duke" seen at the western terminus of Marine Parade where it will run around its train.

Back at Rock-a Nore in late afternoon "Princess Swee' Pea" has had its fire disposed of and is positioned ready
to be put in the shed for the night.

The nearby East Hill lift, a recently restored funicular railway is well worth a ride for spectacular views of Hastings.

A fishing boat displayed on The Stade in front of the fishermans net huts which were said by English Heritage to be
a rare example of "buildings intrinsic to the British coastal fishing industry".
