Golden Valley Light Railway
- 17th August 2014
The Golden Valley Light Railway, based on
the Swanwick site at the Midland Railway Centre, played host
to Baldwin no.778 from the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway over the
weekend of 16/17 Aug 2014.
The WD loco was hauling a recreation of
an Ashover Light Railway train comprising a loaded WD class D bogie
wagon and ex Ashover Lt Railway coach no.4 on its first outings in
public service since complete restoration.
Seen passing under the country park
footbridge during a short sharp shower.
The line is very pleasantly wooded after
leaving the Swanwick site.
Having arrived at the Newlands Inn
terminus the crew pose for photographs before running around the train.
The mixed train is now almost ready for
departure back to Swanwick.
A modern day B&W shot evoking the
atmosphere of the old Ashover Light Railway.
No.778 and train leaving the country
park.
Seen passing standard gauge wagons at the
beginning of the Swanwick site.
778 arriving at the main GVLR station.
0-4-2 "Joan" sits on the adjacent road and was being used for
stock shunting as 778 was unable to use the run round loop.
