Work began on 31st May 1978 to replace the original GCR roof at
Grimsby Town station,
seen here on 2nd June 1978 with 08405 in bay.

This is the scene from Wellowgate footbridge the following day 7th
June 1978. Eastbound trains continued to use platform 1
on left, whilst westbound trains used platform 3 to right of station
building, as platform 2 was occupied by the crane.

The first two girders of the new roof are in place on 5th July 1978

Now all girders are in place on 10th July 1978 and work would
continue
to lay the roofing sheets.
