Gainsborough Lea Road station

Gainsborough Lea Road station on the GN & GE Joint railway line between Lincoln and Doncaster. It is now an
unmanned station with frequent services between Lincoln, Doncaster and Adwick. The road level station
buildings chimneys can be seen at the left of the picture.


Northerns 144010 enters Lea Road station with a Lincoln service.

There was engineering work on the ECML at Grantham today and HST sets were diverted between Doncaster and
Peterborough over the GN & GE Jt line. Here 43307 brings a London bound train through Gainsborough.


66230 heads a line of 5 class 66 locos through Lea Rd.


An East Midlands train for Doncaster formed of 153319 and 153311.


The pair leaving Gainsborough, passing folorn looking semaphore posts which had their arms removed following a fire
which put Lea Rd signalbox out of action. The one distant arm belongs to Trent Junction box just around the corner.
