The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway
celebrated 75 years of miniature railways in the resort by holding a
gala over the 15th & 16th July 2023...
...with visiting locos and the opening
of an exhibition "The story of Cleethorpes Miniature Railways" at
Lakeside station.
Visiting loco "Prince Edward of Wales"
built in 1909 by Bassett Lowke.
New diesel acquisition by the CCLR built
by RVM engineering.
R&ER vertical boilered tram engine
"Flower of the Forest" a once familiar sight at Cleethorpes.
DA1 bought by the CCLR from Tasmania.
The Mayor and Mayoress of North East
Lincolnshire Council, Peter Bryant and fellow director John Kerr (on
mic) at the opening of the exhibition.
Unfortunately the heavens opened just as
the Mayor was about to unveil the plaque and declare the exhibition
open!
The indoor exhibition tells the story of
miniature railways at Cleethorpes from the early steam days in 1947
through the
battery electric loco days, the local
Council ownership & re-gauging, up to the present day. Well
worth a look!

Railway was Exmoor built "Monty".
Sharing steam duties was resident 0-4-2
"Bonnie Dundee".
