The wrong kind of snow?
Not at Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway!


There was a heavy overnight snowfall over the east coast on 22nd March 2008. This was the scene at the CCLR at 0930
on Easter Sunday 23rd March 2008 as "Toby" runs light engine from Kingsway clearing the running lines of snow.


The driver of "Sutton Flyer" oils up loco on shed...


..whilst his fellow driver prepares "Sutton Belle" on the adjacent road.


Volunteers clear snow from shed pointwork and running lines by hand.


"Flyer" comes off shed first, slipping on the snow covered rails.


"Belle" with rake of Sutton coaches stands in Lakeside Loop.


"Belle" brings coaching stock into platform 3 for first departure to North Sea Lane...


...handing empty tea mug to "Flyers" driver - no doubt hoping for a refill!


First train of day departs Lakeside in a cloud of steam - driver checks behind as he rounds curve.


Returning from North Sea Lane "Belle" runs alongside Meridian Road approaching crossing.


"Flyer" climbs away from Meridian Road crossing towards North Sea Lane.


Snow seen on beach at North Sea Lane Loop as "Flyer" returns to Lakeside.


"Belle" reaches top of climb and passes through floodgate into North Sea Lane loop.


"Belle" slows for points in loop.


Running round train at North Sea Lane - guard stood by train waiting to attach locomotive.


By 1230 the snow had begun to melt and by 1400 it had gone - but the CCLR ran to time!
