Anniversary Gala - 15th July 2018
The
Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway held a gala on 14th & 15th July 2018
to celebrate the 70th anniversary of a miniature railway on the seafront
at Cleethorpes.
Under new ownership since 2014 this was
the first gala to be held at the CCLR for a number of years and featured
visiting Twining
locomotives 2-4-2
"Katie" and "Sian", both now based at the Kirklees Light Railway, along
with 0-4-0ST "Smokey Joe" from Sherwood Forest Railway.
The smokey scene at the locoshed about
8.30am on 15th Jul 2018.
"Katie", with electric fan on funnel to
help draughting, receives attention from the cleaners.
CCLR residents: 04 no. 6284 in front of
0-4-0 "Effie" with no. 24. "Sian" is just visible above 04s tender.

Paintwork is now gleaming in the morning
sunshine.
An "atmospheric" view of the locos on the
shed apron.
The brasswork in the cab of no. 24 is
carefully cleaned.
Similar attention to cleaning in the cab
of the 04.
"Effie" hemmed in by the bigger locos.
With the loco now in steam the draughting
fan is removed.
"Sian", with a large draughting pipe in
the funnel, is being oiled up.
