Carnforth to Barnetby Branch Line Special

47746 brings the Branch Line Society special over Bigby Road level crossing in Brigg at approx 11.50hrs.

The special is now seen at Brocklesby Junction taking the line to Ulceby Junction.


47746 slowly brings the special into Goxhill station on the Barton on Humber branch in N. Lincolnshire approx 12.35.


This was an 8 coach train top & tailed by 47746 & 57314.


57314 now seen at Barrow Haven on the return from Barton on Humber...


... which normally only sees single car 153 units and a once a day Transpennine unit.

The train seen now approaching Great Coates, where it joined the Grimsby to Immingham light
railway at Marsh Junction.

Having left the Cleethorpes line at Marsh Junction the train passes through the site of Great Coates sidings...

...and passes under the A180 bridge on the way to Pyewipe Road.

Now on the light railway approx 13.40 and 57314 is seen passing Pyewipe Road signal box in Grimsby...

57314 at Kiln Lane crossing Stallingborough on the light railway.


At the Immingham end of the light railway the driver surrenders the single line token to the Immingham East signalman...


....and proceeds onto the dock estate...


... with imported power station coal alongside the tracks and cranes visible in the distance. Approx 1355hrs.

Now seen a few minutes later coming into Ulceby station from the Immingham branch....

The train then took the Roxby branch at Scunthorpe and is seen approaching Dawes Lane crossing about 15.30.
