Amerton Railway

The Amerton Railway is a fine 2ft gauge
railway situated between Uttoxeter and Stafford.
We arrived just before the service
started on a cloudy Saturday morning, which was a diesel day.
The award winning restored signalbox
from Waterhouses on the Leek & Manifold Lt Railway controls the
station layout at Amerton station.
Hunslet 8651 "Gordon" of 1978 seen with
its train across the site.
Now rounding the curve into Amerton
station.
The loco was originally used underground
in the coal industry and is flame proofed.
Chartley Halt serves the popular picnic
area.
The railway is a circuit passing through
very pleasant farmland.
The train arrives at Amerton station as
passengers watch from the platform shelter.
